Canada reaches deal with tech giant Google over Online News Act

Toronto/IBNS: The Canadian government has inked a deal over the Online News Act with tech giant Google that needs the latter to pay $100 million annually to publishers, and to allow access to Canadian news content on its platform.

Canada suspends its advertising on Facebook, Instagram over Online News Act disagreement

Toronto/IBNS: Canadian Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez has said that following Meta’s decision to pull Canadian news from its platforms in response to the Online News Act, the federal government would suspend all its advertising on Facebook and Instagram.
