IPL: Shikhar Dhawan guides team to 5 wicket victory over GL

Hyderabad, May 6 (IBNS) Chasing 127 runs to win the match against Gujarat Lions, Sunrisers Hyderabad won it by five wickets and an over to spare, here on Friday.

Hyderabad opener Shikhar Dhawan remained unbeaten at 47 and guided his team to a win in a low scoring competitive game.

After a brisk start by the Hyderabad team, the bowling side pulled things back, picking up five wickets but a matured innings from Dhawan put them off.

For GL, Dwayne Bravo and Dhawal Kulkarni picked up two wickets each, while Praveen Kumar chipped in with a wicket.   

Asked to bat first, the Gujarat Lions batsmen put up 126 runs for the loss of six wickets on a slow track.

Aaron Finch remained unbeaten at 51. The Aussie played 42 balls, hitting three fours and a six.

GL lost wickets at regular interval and was reeling at 34 for the loss of four wickets.

A 45-run stand between Dwayne Bravo (18) and Finch consolidated their innings. Another 27-runs for the ensuing wicket between Finch and Jadeja (18) catapulted their score towards the 100-run mark.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mustafizur Rahman picked up two wickets each, while Moises Henriques and Barinder Sran accounted for a scalp each.
