Colombo, Sept 1 (IBNS) Ishant Sharma on Tuesday became the eighth Indian bowler to take 200 Test wickets when he dismissed Angelo Mathews in the last day of the third Test match that India won to put an end on their 22 years wait of winning a Test match series here.

Sharma who under-performed in the first two Test matches came back strong to pick 5 wickets in the first innings of the last Test match to hand his side a much needed and crucial lead of 111 runs.

He backed up performance with a 3-wicket hall in the ensuing innings that included the prized scalp of Sri lankan skipper Angelo Mathews who scored a prolific 110 and threatened to deny a victory to the visitors.

Sharma now has 200 Test wickets in 65 matches along with 106 in the 50 overs format and 8 in the International T20 games.
