Maharashtra, Lakshadweep to clash in Beach Soccer competition final

Maharashtra and Lakshadweep made it to the final of the Beach Soccer competition in the Diu Beach Games 2024 here on Wednesday.

In the semi-finals, while Maharashtra defeated Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu 9-3, Lakshadweep got the better of Rajasthan 8-4.

The third-place match between the two losing semi-finalists and the final will be played on Thursday.

The architects of Maharashtra victory were Manas Tamore and Harsh Haresh Kapadia, who scored three goals each. Lakshadweep, on the other hand, rode on the brilliance of Mohammed Malik Dheener, who struck three goals.

Results:

Maharashtra 9 (Manas Tamore 3, Harsh Haresh Kapadia 3, Sagar Singh, Om Sanjay Arane, Parth Paresh Chavan) beat Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu 3 (Loresh Chandu Bhurkud, Laishram Prosananda Singh, Takhellambam Likson Singh)

Lakshadweep 8 (Mohammed Malik Dheenar 3, Abdu Rahman C 2, Mohammed Akram 2, Sabir Ali) beat Rajasthan 4 (Abhimanyu Singh Rajawat 2, Gopal Singh, Sujal Saini).
