IPL 2023: David Warner fined for SRH's slow over-rate

Hyderabad/UNI: Delhi Capitals captain David Warner has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here.

As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Warner was fined Rs 12 lakh, according to the BCCI statement.

Delhi Capitals pulled off a stunning seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad to record their second win in the Indian Premier League 2023 here on Monday.

In quite a shock to the franchise, SRH failed to chase down 145, a mere target set by the visitors.

For most part of the run chase, DC bowlers dominated picking wickets at regular intervals until Heinrich Klaasen (31 off 19 balls) fired late in vain.

Prior to Klaasen, Mayank Agarwal (49 off 39 balls) kept the hosts in the hunt but his dismissal brought DC back in the game.

After Klaasen was dismissed, Washington Sundar (24 not out off 15 balls), who tried to earn a victory for his team, failed to take the hosts home as SRH finished their innings at 137/6 in 20 overs.
