Hyderabad, May 12 (IBNS): Mumbai Indians clinched a thriller against Chennai Super Kings by one run to win the Indian Premier League title for the fourth time in the history of the cash-rich tournament here on Sunday.

The match went down to the last ball when CSK needed two runs to win the title.

However, experienced Sri Lankan bowler Lasith Malinga managed to take the wicket of Thakur (2) to ensure the title once again return to Mumbai.

Rohit Sharma proved his brilliance once again as a skipper and won the title for another time in his career.

After posting 149 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs, Mumbai bowlers managed to restrict CSK at 148 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

The match kept swinging to both sides but Mumbai kept their nerves cool to manage the victory.

Shane Watson remained the top scorer for CSK with his swashbuckling 59-ball 80 runs. He hammered eight boundaries and four sixes in his knock but his run out at the end shattered CSK's hope of winning the title for the fourth time to a great extent.

Ravindra Jadeja and Thakur could not take CSK to the target.

Faf du Plessis added 26 runs with his willow.

Mumbai bowler Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets and kept bringing back Mumbai India in the match whenever CSK was running towards victory.

Kieron Pollard smashed unbeaten 41 runs as he helped Mumbai Indians post 149 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the final match of the Indian Premier League against Chennai Super Kings here on Sunday.

Pollard played a smart knock where he hit three boundaries and three sixes to put his side in the game where CSK bowlers also tried to dominate the opposition.

Hardik Pandya entertained his fans with a quick knock of 10-ball 16 runs.

Mumbai opener Quinton de Kock started the innings on a solid note with a 17-ball 29 runs innings after skipper Rohit Sharma elected to bat first after winning the toss.

Deepak Chahar picked up three wickets for CSK.

Thakur and Tahir scalped two wickets each.
