Music director Ravindra Jain passes away, PM Narendra Modi mourns

Mumbai/New Delhi, Oct 9 (IBNS): Music director Ravindra Jain died at a hospital in Mumbai on Friday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the rest of the nation in mourning his demise.

Jain died after prolonged illness. He was 71.

"Shri Ravindra Jain will be remembered for his versatile music and fighting spirit. Pained on his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers," the Prime Minister said.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also mourned his death and tweeted: "Saddened to learn of music composer Ravindra Jain's demise. Though visually challenged he had the 'vision' of seeing the world through music."

"Ravindra Jain ji was instrumental in producing many memorable compositions in Hindi films. His death is a big loss to the music industry," he said.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said: "My condolences on demise of renowned Music composer& lyricist Shri Ravindra Jain.It is a big loss to music lovers.May his soul rest in peace."

Union Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore tweeted: "A musical journey comes to an end, but soulful compositions of Shri Ravindra Jain will continue to live . RIP."

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee posted: "Extremely saddened to know about the demise of Ravindra Jain ji. He was a pioneer in devotional music. My condolences to his family."

Apart from politicians, singers and other celebrities from Bollywood also mourned the death of the music composer.

Singing legend Lata Mangeshkar said: "It's a very sad news that great singer, poet Ravindra Jain ji passed away today. May his soul rest in peace."

"One of The Greatest Creative Geniuses!! Ravindra Jain Ji Lives on... In his Songs... Music died a little today," singer Shaan tweeted.

Singer Sonu Nigam said: "Prayers for Ravindra Jain saheb... One of my most favourite composers ever... His Henna, I consider, is one of the finest scores ever."

Music composer Pritam posted: "RIP Ravindra Jain. Very sad news. A Huge loss to the Indian music industry. We will miss you."

Singer Sunidhi Chaauhan mourned his death and said: "My deepest condolences to the family of the Legend, Shri Ravindra Jain Ji. Blessed to have spent some time with him in this life time."

Actor Rishi Kapoor posted: "R I P. Ravindra Jain "Daddu". Thank you for the lovely music. You did Henna for me."

Actress Hema Malini tweeted: "Just heard the shattering news that my beloved Dada,RavindraJain passed away today after falling sick at a concert in Nagpur.I am devastated."

Jain was born blind on Feb 28, 1944.

He had composed music for films like 'Chitchor', 'Chor Machaye Shor' and 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili' among others.
