Ali Fazal's “Victoria & Abdul” fails to clinch Oscars

Los Angeles, Mar 5 (IBNS): Indian actor Ali Fazal's international movie “Victoria & Abdul” lost the chance of clinching an Oscars on Monday.

The movie had got two Oscar nominations- Best Costume Design for Consolata Boyle and Make-up and Hairstyling for Daniel Phillips and Lou Sheppard.

However, it faltered in both the segments.

Mark Bridges won the  Best Costume Design award for  "Phantom”.

In the other nominated category, the award went to the team behind “Darkest Hour” –A Kazuhiro Tsuji, David Mallinowski and Lucy Sibbick.

Victoria and Abdul is a British-American biographical drama film directed by Stephen Frears and written by Lee Hall.

It is based on the book of same name by Shrabani Basu, and on the real-life relationship between Queen Victoria and her Indian servant Abdul Karim.

The film stars Judi Dench, Ali Fazal, Eddie Izzard, Tim Pigott-Smith (in his last film role), and Adeel Akhtar.
