Beverly Hills/IBNS: Epic biographical film Oppenheimer has bagged major awards including the Best Picture (Drama) in the 81st Golden Globe Awards which were held here on Sunday.

Christopher Nolan won the Best Director award for the film while actor Cillian Murphy was announced the Best Male Actor (Motion Picture-Drama).

"I thought it would be simpler accepting for myself but as a director standing here, I suddenly realise that I can only accept this on behalf of people.

"As directors, we bring people together and try to get the regular vibe to their best," Nolan said after he was honoured.

Receiving the award, Cillian said, "I knew the first time I walked on Chris Nolan's set, it was different... I was in the hands of a visionary director and a master."

Robert Downey Jr., who featured in Oppenheimer, has won the Best Supporting Actor in a film.

In an upset for female empowerment film Barbie, Emma Stone starrer Poor Things won the Best Movie (Musical or Comedy).

Emma has also won the Best Female Actor (Musical or Comedy) for Poor Things.

Receiving the award, she said, "Playing Bella was unbelievable. I think this is a rom-com. I see this as a rom-com. But in the sense of Bella falling in love with life itself rather than a person and she accepts the good and bad in equal measure and that really makes me look at life differently."

While Succession was announced as the Best Drama in the category of television, The Bear won the Best TV Comedy.
