Margot Robbie, the producer and lead actress of Barbie movie, surprised her fans with the revelation that Wonder Woman actor Gal Gadot was her initial choice for the iconic character.

She made the revelation at a time when Barbie is going strong at the global Box Office.

However, the plan was soon dropped as Gadot was not available due to her previous professional commitments.

Speaking to Vogue, Robbie, said: "Gal Gadot is Barbie energy. Because Gal Gadot is so impossibly beautiful, but you don’t hate her for being that beautiful, because she’s so genuinely sincere, and she’s so enthusiastically kind, that it’s almost dorky. It’s like right before being a dork.”

Reacting to the news, Gadot praised the Australian actress and said she was touched to learn about the consideration.

Speaking to Flaunt, she said: "I adore Margot. Margot is one of those women who you just want to be friends with."

“She is so funny, warm, fun and smart and obviously so talented. She brings so much to the table. I would love to do anything with Margot and was very touched [by her comments]. She warmed my heart with everything that she said about me. I’m super excited for them, and I’m so excited for Barbie," Gal said.

Barbie, a film directed by Greta Gerwig, has grossed over $1 billion worldwide, according to reports.
