Mumbai, Jan 12 (IBNS): Makers have finally changed the name of Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Raveer Singh's much awaited project to 'Padmaavat' from 'Padmavati'.

A series of controversies, which included threat from a fringe group, led to the delayng of the launch of the film from its initial date of Dec 1.

Meanwhile, the official Twitter page of the movie has been renamed as 'Padmaavat'.

The name has been changed in other social media platforms as well.

Earlier, amid controversies, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed Padmaavat with few edits.

The movie is now scheduled to release on Jan 25.

Interestingly, the name of the movie's Twitter handle has been changed but the cover image is still of the poster, which reads Padmavati.

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movie will now clash on the box office with Akshay Kumar's Padman.

Deepika is playing the character of Rani Padmini in the movie.
