Kriti Sanon praises Deepika for her 'chilled-out presence' on Raabta sets

Kolkata, June 5 (IBNS): The lead actress of the film Raabta, Kriti Sanon, during a promotional tour to the city on Monday, praised the Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone for her chilled-out presence on the set while shooting the title song.

Kriti, who has been busy for last few days to promote her upcoming film in different cities, said: "She is so hardworking, dedicated and chilled-out in the sets that we had great fun with her. She has been very easy in the shooting floor."

Deepika made  special appearance in the film with title song, sharing screen with the lead actors, Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon.

Kriti, however, regretted that she could not interact much with the xXx girl in between shooting, though had an opportunity to lunch together.

Raabta is a romantic film based on reincarnation that revolves around two characters, Shiv and Saira, who instantly becomes close to each other only to later realise that they are connected through a past experience of unrequited love, passion, adventure and treachery.

Despite not believing in reincarnation, Sushant said: "I did not believe in reincarnation but I chose the film because I felt it to be engaging and the characters as endearing, after reading the script."

Speaking about the experience of sharing screen with Sushant for the first time, Kriti said: "It is amazing. Before the shooting of this film, we never met. I knew he was a fantastic actor who can do different kind of roles. I found out that he talks a lot, though he feels he doesn't. I had much fun and as actors we had really great times even we didn't know each other."

Raabta is the third film in Sanon's Bollywood career, who had started her journey with the film Heropanti and later shared screen with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in Dilwale.

Kriti felt that the character she played in Raabta was quite different from her nature,

"Saira is much different from me, in fact when I read the script, I felt that she was actually a quiet character.  She was someone who doesn't have parents since the age of two and was bit quirky. Initially when I used to be introvert and quiet during shooting, Dino (Dinesh Vijan, director) came to me and said that he never wanted the character to be quiet. He said that the character should be quirky, endearing, surprising, unpredictable. So we tried to build the character with certain body languages, mannerisms to make it look different from the ones we have seen," she said, illustrating her character.

Apart from Deepika, the film also has a special appearance of the actor Rajkumar Rao, who previously acted with Sushant in the film Kai Po Che.

The Kai Po Che actor, who took part in several dance reality shows previously, said that his favourite song from the film is the Main Tera Boyfriend, in which he was seen to shake his legs.

He considered songs of the film to be "visually impressive", as several scenes were condensed and used in the picturisation of the songs.

The film consists of seven songs which were composed by Pritam, JAM8 and Sourav Roy.

Though Sushant and Kriti worked for the first time, they felt that their Raabta (connection) to be strong right from the beginning of the shoot.

Referring to her bonding with Sushant to be "organic chemistry", the actress said: "We didn't know anything about us but we were communicating well and listening to each other. I think its rare to be reacting without knowing, so the chemistry seems to be organic."

The film will hit the big screens on June 9.
