Mumbai, Apr 16 (IBNS): Veteran actor Dilip Kumar, who is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital here, is 'recovering well, his wife Saira Banu said on Saturday.

"Dilip Saab was admitted to Lilavati Hospital for treatment of high fever and chest infection on April 15 night. He was advised intravenous administration of antibiotics for speedy recovery. Oral drugs would not act as fast as the IV injections, the doctors advised. Hence it became necessary to shift him to the hospital," actress  Banu  said in a statement.

"He is recovering well and is stable by the grace of god and the care of doctors treating him. He is in a room in the hospital and not in the ICU as spread by rumours," she said.

A superstar, Kumar is known for acting in several films like  Andaz (1949),  Aan (1952), Devdas (1955), Azaad (1955), Mughal-e-Azam (1960) and Ganga Jamuna (1961).
