Mumbai, Mar 15 (IBNS): The acclaimed India Today Conclave 2016, a two-day affair, would commence on March 17 with a star-studded line up of speakers from all walks of life, including Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt who walked out free from jail recently over the Mumbai blasts case and is likely to share his experience of brush with law.

A high-powered event, the conclave would be bringing together newsmakers from the highest corridors of power as well as those curated from the best platforms across the globe.

The conclave will welcome Sanjay Dutt to his first official appearance in almost three years, where he will give a hard hitting narrative on the topic “Resurrection & Redemption - the hard road to freedom”.

Other prominent celebrities at the Conclave will include  poet & lyricist Javed Akhtar and his wife and actor Shabana Azmi, as well as comedian Varun Grover.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will deliver the opening keynote address, speaking on whether the economy could achieve a growth rate running into double digits.

The second most powerful face in the BJP after the PM himself, BJP national president Amit Shah will be speaking on the issue of the politics of patriotism, which gripped the country in the wake of anti-India slogans that were raised on JNU campus. Both Arun Jaitley and Amit Shah, the twin powers and the only two men who know what the Prime Minister thinks, will be delivering the opening and closing keynote address respectively.

Another minister, who has earned the respect of his colleagues and people alike for being the no-nonsense go-getter, Nitin Gadkari too would be brainstorming at the conclave. Another luminary of the Modi government, Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy will also be speaking at the conclave, highlighting the possibility of India having 24-hour uninterrupted power supply.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu would again be making headlines after his recent efforts to restructure the railways enshrined in the 2016 Budget. Heading two ministries in the present government, Nirmala Sithraman, would be the centre of attraction also because her alma mater JNU has been in news.

Thought leaders and experts, including Pratap Bhanu Mehta, President, Centre for Policy Research, Sunil Khilnani, Professor of Politics, King's College, London, Arvind Subramanian, Chief Economic Advisor, Govt. of India, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Former Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission and Dattatreya Hosabale, Joint General Secretary, RSS will comment on urgent issues related to politics, religion, ideologies and the future forecast for growth in the country.

The Conclave will also feature a number of famous athletes, including Abhinav Bindra, Olympic Champion, Mary Kom, Boxer and Gopichand Pullela, Badminton Coach.
