Mumbai, Sept 22 (IBNS): It had been reported that funnyman Vir Das will be seen in a serious avatar for the very first time in '31st October' and it has been learned that the film is slated to release on Oct 30.

Set against the backdrop of the anti-Sikh riots that erupted across the country following the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, ‘31st October’ is an edge-of-the-seat thriller about a Sikh family that gets trapped in a riot-affected region of Delhi.

The film has been lauded at various international film festivals.

Sources claim that Das grew a beard and learned Punjabi for his role in the film.

Written and produced by Harry Sachdeva under the banner Magical Dreams Productions Pvt Ltd,  '31st October' which has been directed by Shivaji Lotan Patil, stars Soha Ali Khan and Vir Das in the lead roles.
