Mumbai, June 2 (IBNS): Even as Vidya Balan is essaying the titular role in the film 'Bobby Jasoos', the actress said she initially assumed that she might have to play 'Kitty to Karamchand' in the movie.

She was later pleasantly surprised, when she was told that she’ll be the protagonist of the spy-thriller.

Vidya said, “The agency that handles me told me that Dia and Sahil wanted to come to me for a film so, we fixed up a meeting and as I was going out of town for four days, I thought let me meet them and probably I can carry the script with me. So Dia and Sahil walked in with the director of the film Samar Shaikh and Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh, who has penned the script and I asked them ok what is the film that you want to make about and they told me it’s called Bobby Jasoos and I immediately thought oh they want me to play Kitty to Karamchand… great!”

“Then Dia told me we want you to play Bobby Jasoos and I was immediately interested because I had never imagined a female detective and I was like really? I took the script with me, read it, had a few meetings with Samar and Sanyunktha to understand their vision and as it was a great concept I immediately agreed to do it," she said.

Come July 4, this Kitty will give Karamchand a run for his money.

Presented by Reliance Entertainment, 'Bobby Jasoos' also stars Ali Fazal, Kiran Kumar, Arjan Bajwa, Anupriya Goenka, Zarina Wahab and Tanvi Azmi among others.
