Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Jackman have decided to end their marriage after 27 years of being together.

"We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth," read a statement issued by the couple as quoted by People.

The pair added that their family is their "highest priority," and requested privacy as they navigate "this transition in all of our lives."

The duo had met for the first time on the set of Australian TV show Correlli.

They were married in April 1996.

They have two adopted children named Oscar and Ava.

In April this year, Hugh had written an emotional post on Instagram to mark the couple's 27th marriage anniversary.

He had written: "I love you Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 YEARS!! I love you so much. Together we have created a beautiful family. And life."

"Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage and loyalty is an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart," he said.
