Kolkata/IBNS: Women need to support each other to achieve real empowerment, said Indian actor Sameera Reddy during her recent visit to the city.

Speaking to India Blooms correspondent on the sidelines of Westside's Limitless Campaign, Sameera said, "I think we can only break stereotypes if we can do it together. The community of women can only be uplifted by supporting each other.

"I see a lot of women pull women down. I think women can rise together if we support each other and that is actually true empowerment."

Sameera along with other actor Swastika Mukhejee spoke about different aspects of fashion, body positivity and self-love.

This was followed by meeting members of the Westside community and fans along with a fashion show.

The event had aimed at building a community where everyone can express themselves and be their most authentic selves.

When she was asked about social media's impact on people in modern days, Sameera said, "I felt a lot of anxiety initially after coming on social media. I got scared actually seeing people looking so perfect while waking up."

"We can look at social media as something that pulls us down or lifts us up. I actually look at it as lifting me up. So it's how we look at it," she added.

Sameera, who featured in films like Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, Darna Mana Hai, Race, De Dana Dana, was last seen on big screens in 2012 with Tezz.

Will she return to Bollywood soon?

"I am a very mushy mamma to my kids. I miss my kids even if I am away from them for a day. I don't think I will be able to do that yet. I need the strength to leave the kids (for work)," she replied.
