Sheena Chohan to essay Laila on stage in Ila Arun's Ibsen adaptation Peer Ghani

Mumbai/IBNS: International film actress, beauty pageant winner and human rights worker Sheena Chohan will play the role of Laila in Peer Ghani, a new play by singer-actress-producer Ila Arun, based on the work of Henrik Ibsen.

Peer Ghani, an adaptation of Peer Gynt by Henrik Ibsen will be staged in Mumbai's Royal Opera Theatre on Jan 11 and Prithvi Theatre  on Jan 26. Tickets are available from Book My Show.

"I am all excited to work with Ila Arun-ji. I worked in theatre in Kolkata with Padatik group earlier and then for years in Delhi with Arvind Gaur," Sheena told IBNS.

Sheena, who was nominated as Best Actress at the Shanghai and Dubai Film Festivals, will play the role of Laila in the play  directed by KK Raina.

Sheena Chohan won MIss Kolkatta while still in high school and then was handpicked by Sushmita Sen for Miss Universe where she won a title.

Sheena then went on to do five years of theatre in Delhi with legendary Arvind Gaur. She debuted in the film The Train opposite South mega star Mammootty. The film was directed by national award winning director Jayaraj who cast her as the lead in the Malayalam film.

She then shot two films in primary roles with  National Award Winning Bengali director Buddhadeb Dasgupta. Later she was nominated as Best Actress Award in the film ANT STORY, directed by the Asian Screen Award winning director Mustofa Farooki, which got streamed on Netflix .

In June 2019, Sheena shot for a Hollywood film in Los Angeles and won the Hero Award at the United Nations for her work as the Human rights Ambassador South Asia.

Sheena’s short film Taken for a Ride, was showcased at Film Bazaar Goa in November 2019. It is being released on MX Player in January 2019.
