Vijayawada/IBNS: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which swept the recently concluded assembly elections, has alleged its supporter was killed by the YSRCP in a new incident of post-poll violence, media reports said.

The opposition party has rejected the allegations.

Police said Gowrinath Chowdary, the TDP supporter, was murdered in Kurnool allegedly by the opposition party following an argument.

TDP general secretary and Chief Minister-designate N Chandrababu Naidu's son, Nara Lokesh, targeted the YSRCP in an X post saying, "Even though YS Jagan lost, he continued to write bloody history. TDP leader Gaurinath Chaudhary of Bommireddypalle, Veldurthi mandal of Kurnool district was brutally murdered. Jagan Reddy is killing the people like he killed Baba, even if the people who do not want the rule of the YCP faction.

"If Jagan Reddy does not stop the politics of murder, the consequences will be severe. Gaurinath Chaudhary's family is supported by TDP. There is no question of letting the accused go. We will check the attacks of YCP faction. We will maintain peace and order."

In a counter allegation, the YSRCP has posted a video on X where a man was seen kneeling down and crying in front of a poster of Nara Lokesh.

The opposition party has alleged, "This is the situation in Andhra Pradesh! Heart-wrenching visuals from Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh. @JaiTDP leaders are targeting Dalits in the state who raise their voices against them.

"They are literally threatening the lives of Dalits, forcing them to apologize to @naralokesh publicly. Is this the development that you promised to bring in the state @ncbn @PawanKalyan @narendramodi?"

As per reports, the man and his wife had earlier accused TDP of irregularities and joined the YSRCP, which is led by former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The alleged victim's wife is missing.

Several incidents of violence have been reported across the state of Andhra Pradesh in the last few days since the poll results were announced.

The TDP, Jana Sena Party and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which are in an alliance, have bagged 135, 21, 8 seats. YSRCP, which came to power in 2019, won only 11 seats.
