BJP candidate Pranat Tudu attacked in Bengal's Jhargram in 6th phase of Lok Sabha polls

Kolkata/IBNS: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from West Bengal's Jhargram was attacked by a violent mob in the sixth and penultimate phase of Lok Sabha elections on Saturday, media reports said.

In a video, a mob was seen throwing stones at and chasing away Tudu's team in Jhargram on the polling day.

Following the attack, Tudu's security personnel rescued Tudu and left the place.

The BJP has pinned the blame on the state ruling party, Trinamool Congress (TMC), which is led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya posted a video on X saying, "Mamata Banerjee is murdering democracy in Bengal. Now, TMC goons attack BJP’s Jhargram (a Tribal seat) candidate and ABP Ananda’s crew.

"Despite attempts to preclude people from casting vote, West Bengal has one of the highest voter turnout across the country. People are voting to kick out the TMC."

In a counter, the TMC has put up an X post which reads, "BJP's Nari-Biddeshi achoron is no longer confined to words; it's now evident in their actions.

"From Central Forces outraging the modesty of women to BJP MP candidate, Pranat Tudu's security physically assaulting a woman waiting to cast her ballot, their onslaught on Bengal's mothers and sisters grows more brazen by the hour. When the PM himself sets the tone with his misogynistic behaviour, what more can we expect from his underlings?"
