Kangana Ranaut in Mandi: 'Don't think I am a heroine, consider me as your sister and daughter'

Mandi/IBNS: Bollywood top actress Kangana Ranaut on Friday kick-started her Lok Sabha poll campaign, days after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) picked her as a candidate from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi.

Kangana- dressed in a white kurta- addressed a massive gathering where she pitched herself as the "sister and daughter" of people from her home state.

"Don't think Kangana is a star or a heroine, consider me as your sister and daughter. All are my relatives," said the 'Queen' star in her first words as a politician.

Her words triggered "Jai Shri Ram" chants from the BJP supporters.

Kangana, who has always remained a supporter of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, last year had expressed her wish to contest the parliamentary elections.

The 37-year-old actress, who hails from Himachal Pradesh's Bhambla, has a career spanning for two decades.

Reacting to the ticket being handed over to her, Kangana had posted on X, "My beloved Bharat and Bhartiya Janta’s own party, Bharatiya Janta party ( BJP) has always had my unconditional support, today the national leadership of BJP has announced me as their Loksabha candidate from my birth place Himachal Pradesh, Mandi (constituency) I abide by the high command’s decision on contesting Loksabha polls.

"I feel honoured and elated to officially join the party. I look forward to be a worthy karyakarta and a reliable public servant. Thanks."
