The city police have arrested a 20-year-old youth and his accomplice for allegedly repeatedly raping a teenage girl here by promising her marriage.

Based on a complaint lodged by the mother of the girl on Friday, the Parvati police station has registered a case under sections 376/2/J/N, 506 of Indian Penal Code under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against accused Sanket Malhari Shinde (20), Vijay Yallappa Narayanakar (25) and Yash Rajendra Jadhav (26, three of Janata Vasahat, Pune).

Following registration of case, police arrested Sanket Shinde and Yash Jadhav, police said.

According to police, Sanket Shinde lured the 16-year-old girl on pretext of marriage.

He called the girl to meet him at a place by threatening to disclose about their alleged relationship to her family.

When the girl went to meet Sanket, he took her to a shed near the residence of the girl and raped her.

Then, he continued to sexually assault her between May 2023 and March 15 of this year, police said.

While his friends Vijay and Yash helped the accused in meeting with the girl, read the complaint.

Further investigation is on, sources added.
