Suspected terrorist aide arrested in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara with arms, ammunition

A suspected militant associate was arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said.

Asif Mushtaq Wani, a resident of Galizoo Kupwara, was arrested on Friday.

Wani was the second militant associate arrested in Kupwara district in the last two days.

They said the arrest was made at a surprise Naka checking jointly established by Police Kupwara, (Army’s) 47 RR and 162 battalion CRPF near BEd college Drugmulla Kupwara.

“The person tried to escape on seeing the alert joint security forces party , however, he was apprehended after putting hectic efforts,” police said.

The search led to the recovery of one Chinese made pistol, one pistol magazine and six pistol rounds in his possession, police said.

A case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Kupwara and investigation has been taken up, they said.

On Thursday, a militant associate identified as Rafeeq Ahmad Ganie of Lalpora Sheikhpora, was arrested by a joint team of forces at Gundimacher Bridge in Kupwara.
