Delhi Court grants Manish Sisodia 3-day bail to attend his niece's marriage

New Delhi/UNI: A Delhi Court on Monday granted three-day interim bail to Delhi's former Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia for attending his niece’s marriage on February 14.

Special Judge for MPs/MLAs Court MK Nagpal, after hearing arguments, granted Sisodia three-day interim bail from Feb 13 to 15 for attending his niece’s marriage.

Counsel for Sisodia moved the bail application by submitting that his niece is very close to him and he has to perform certain rituals in the marriage.

The government counsel for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) opposed the bail application before the court by submitting that Sisodia was highly influential and could tamper with evidence.

Thus, the application should be dismissed in the interest of justice.

Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in February last year and by the ED in March 2023 in the Delhi Excise Policy case.

Investigating agencies have alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the now-scraped excise policy.
