New Delhi/IBNS: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor Wednesday remembered his late wife Sunanda Pushkar on her tenth death anniversary.

Pushkar was found dead in a luxury hotel suite on the night of Jan 17, 2014 in Delhi. The couple had been staying in the hotel as Tharoor's official bungalow was being renovated at the time.

In a post on X, Tharoor wrote: "Ten years. A beautiful soul lives forever. Om Shanti."

However, his post on her death anniversary received massive trolling with some even calling him the "culprit".

For a year, her death was considered a case of suicide, but later the Delhi Police, based on a medical report, claimed that  Pushkar was poisoned and registered a murder case against unknown persons.

The police had not named any suspects but conducted polygraph tests on six people,  including Narain Singh,  Tharoor's domestic help, driver Bajrangi and family friend Sanjay Dewa. Tharoor, a former union minister, was also questioned by the police multiple times.

Shashi Tharoor and Sunanda Pushkar reportedly met in October 2009 at a party organised by billionaire Sunny Varkey. The two tied the knot in 2010 in Tharoor's ancestral home in Kerala's Elavanchery. This was the third marriage for both of them.
