New Delhi/IBNS: The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc, comprising a clutch of parties opposed to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Friday held a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi against the suspension of MPs from both Houses of Parliament during the winter session.

Talking about the suspension of MPs, protesting opposition leaders said that the parliamentarians who wanted to discuss the security breach incident that took place in the Lok Sabha on Dec 13 were suspended.

"They (MPs) were suspended for raising their voice against the security lapse. They were demanding a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah in the House, but he did not do so," alleged the leaders.

Taking a dig at the Centre, Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi accused the government of not employing the country's youths.

"Nowadays the youth of our country spend about seven and a half hours on their mobile phones due to unemployment," Rahul Gandhi alleged.

Gandhi accused the BJP of suppressing the voice of the people. "The MPs who were suspended are not just individuals but are the voices of the people of India. You have not only insulted the MPs but also silenced the people," he alleged

Addressing the workers, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge accused the BJP-led government of destroying democracy. "PM Narendra Modi ji and Home Minister Amit Shah ji have taken the initiative to destroy democracy and the Constitution of the country," he remarked.

Taking about the INDIA bloc, Kharge said the opposition has rallied to save the country. "These people are working to crush Dalits, labourers, women, and farmers. That's why we have formed INDIA to save the country," he said.
