New Delhi/IBNS: In his first remark on the Parliament security breach last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the incident was "very serious" and that a "detailed investigation" should be carried out.

However, the PM ruled out the need to debate on this matter.

"The seriousness of this incident should not be downplayed. The (Lok Sabha) Speaker is taking all the necessary steps. Probe agencies are investigating the matter. It is important to find out which elements are behind this and what their objectives are. There is no need to debate this, there should be a detailed investigation into this," he told Dainik Jagran newspaper in an interview.

Earlier, he asked his ministers to take the incident "seriously" without getting involved in "politicking".

"Take this incident seriously. Don’t indulge in politicking. We have to all take precautions," Modi said as quoted by ABP News.

The Union Home Ministry has formed a panel to probe into the shocking Parliament security breach that happened last Wednesday when the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were on.

The incident coincided with the 22nd anniversary of the terrorist attack on Parliament.

Triggering panic and chaos in Lok Sabha on Wednesday, two men carrying smoke canisters jumped into the chamber of the Lower House from the visitors' gallery.

Both the intruders were immediately apprehended and taken into police custody.

Six people were involved in the planning and execution of the incident. All the accused have been arrested and sent to police custody.

Amid massive Opposition uproar over Parliament security breach, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Thursday witnessed repeated disruptions and adjournments of proceedings.

As many as 14 MPs were suspended from Lok Sabha for their alleged misconduct for the remainder of the ongoing winter session.

In Rajya Sabha, Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien was also suspended for the same period for his 'ignoble misconduct'.

Among those MPs suspended from Lok Sabha include DMK's Kanimozhi and Congress' Manickam Tagore.
