Vijayawada/UNI: Former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party national president N Chandrababu Naidu was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police in Nandyal in the wee hours of Saturday.

The AP CID police arrested Chandrababu Naidu and registered cases against him on the charge of misusing funds from AP Skill Development.

A high drama prevailed in Nandyal town for some time as a large number of police rushed there to arrest Naidu, for which TDP cadres raised objections.

The AP CID police were taking Chandrababu Naidu in a vehicle to the AP CID headquarters, located in Mangalagiri, for questioning. The police likely produced Naidu before the court in the evening.

The police registered cases against Naidu under sections 120 (B), 409, 201, r/w 13 (1), and other sections. The police on Saturday also arrested former Minister and TDP MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao on the same charge in Visakhapatnam.

The police either house-arrested or detained a large number of TDP leaders across the state as a precautionary measure. The APSRTC has cancelled bus services across the state as a precautionary measure.

It may be mentioned here that Chandrababu Naidu indicated his arrest three days ago while addressing a meeting in Kurnool.
