Kolkata/IBNS: #RakeshRoshan started trending on social media platform X after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee confused astronaut Rakesh Sharma with the Bollywood actor.

In a viral video, Mamata took Rakesh Roshan's name while referring to Rakesh Sharma's interaction with then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi after traveling to Space.

"I remember when they reached Space, Indira Gandhi had asked Rakesh Roshan, 'How is India looking from there?'"

Following the gaffe, the video went viral triggering memes on the social media platform.

The Chief Minister's gaffe comes at a time when India's lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 successfully soft-landed on the South Polar region of the moon on Wednesday bringing cheers to the nation of 1.4 billion people who erupted in joy and pride after an anxious wait for the moment.

The scientists of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) burst into joy in the control room in Chennai, joining a proud nation, as chairman S Somanath said, "India is now on the moon."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the historic event virtually from South Africa where he is currently visiting to attend the BRICS Summit.

"This moment is historic, unprecedented. This moment is the moment of victory. This moment is the achievement of 1.4 billion people and a new consciousness of a new India. This is the dawn of a new India in the Amrit Kaal," said PM Modi.

"I congratulate from the bottom of my heart the scientists of ISRO," he said.
