Delhi: Aftab Ameen Poonawala, who allegedly murdered and chopped his live-in girlfriend Shraddha Walkar’s body into 35 pieces, is lodged in cell number 4 of the Tihar Jail in Delhi, according to media reports.

India Today reported citing sources that the cell where Aftab has been kept is a separate cell.

He would be under the radar of the jail officials at all times and a guard will be stationed outside his cell.

Even food will be served to him in the presence of police personnel.

Certain prisoners are kept in separate cells owing to security concerns.

Aaftab has been sent to judicial custody for 13 days.

He was arrested on November 12 and sent to five-day police custody, which was further extended for another five days on November 17.

Reportedly, he confessed to murdering and dismembering his ex-girlfriend’s body.

Media reports said he told the police that he stepped out of his house for several days, past midnight, to dump her body parts.

He had bought a 300-litre fridge to keep Shraddha’s dismembered body. He even invited a new girlfriend to his Mehrauli apartment while Shraddha’s body parts were still inside his fridge.

Police are yet to recover Shraddha's skull and the weapon used to dismember her body.
