Nitin Gadkari calls out 'propaganda' by media, accuses it of distorting his statements

New Delhi/IBNS: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s dropping of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari from its parliamentary board has been equated with his past statement that had put the Modi government in a spot of bother.

But Gadkari, a BJP veteran, has accused the media of "propaganda" and twisting his statements leading to controversy.

Recently, a headline trended on social media where Gadkari was heard about the government not taking decisions on time.

Soon the minister shared the full speech on social media claiming his words were distorted by the media.

Gadkari's office said many of his words were misinterpreted earlier as well.

"Many of them were taken out of context to create a controversy. These were done by fringe elements in the media and social media and ended up creating confusion and dilemma among party leaders and workers.

"In fact, many of them were misleading too," a source close to the minister said as quoted by The Indian Express.

Before the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Gadkari's name was propped up in the media as the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate if the party fails to get the majority.

"This was also a mischief. Neither the minister nor his office started this campaign; it was not even our agenda. The minister’s stand was clear and we kept clarifying it. Every statement from the minister was linked to the BJP leadership," he said.
