India Blooms News Service | @indiablooms | 12 Aug 2022, 08:51 am

Srinagar: A migrant labourer was shot dead in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Friday.

They said Amrej, 19, a resident of Madhepura Besarh Bihar was shot at from a close range by an unidentified militant at Sadunara Ajas in Bandipora during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

"He was shifted to hospital where he succumbed," a police official said.

The incident took place at around 1 am.

The killing of a non-local took place a day after a senior police officer said all militants involved in target killings except one have been neutralised in different encounters.

“Except LeT’s terrorist Basit Dar of Kulgam who would be either arrested or neutralised in encounter at the earliest, all terrorists involved in target killings have been neutralised in different encounters,” Additional Director General of Police Vijay Kumar had said after the killing of top commander Lateef Rather and two of his associates.

Meanwhile, Kashmir Police Zone tweeted: "During intervening night, #terrorists fired upon & injured one outside #labourer Mohd Amrez S/O Mohd Jalil R/O Madhepura Besarh #Bihar at Soadnara Sumbal, #Bandipora. He was shifted to hospital for treatment where he succumbed."

Police said Rather was involved in the killing of civilians including a Kashmiri Pandit and a woman TV artist in May this year in Budgam.
