Maharashtra MLA's son among 7 killed in accident

Nagpur/UNI: Seven medical students, including a BJP MLA's son, were killed in a car accident in Wardha district, Maharashtra police said on Tuesday.

Wardha SP Prashant Holkar said the accident took place around 11.30 pm on Monday, when the students were passing Selsura in Deoli.

Their SUV driver lost control of the vehicle when a wild animal suddenly appeared in front of the car.

The car plunged off a bridge, killing all seven on the spot, said the official.

The deceased were identified as Neeraj Chauhan, Nitesh Singh, Vivek Nandan, Pratyush Singh, Shubham Jaiswal, Pawan Shakti and Tirora MLA Vijay Rahangdale's son Avishkar.

They were all Savangi Medical College students and six of them were from other states. The central government has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the victims.
