Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital doctors protest against Ramdev

New Delhi/UNI: Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital's Resident Doctor Association (RDA) on Tuesday protested against the alleged derogatory comments made by Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev on the allopathic medicine.

RML RDA President Pratul Krishna said Ramdev's comments were totally wrong and baseless. "We are organising a 'black day protest' by wearing a black ribbon," Dr Krishna said.

Ramdev, during a recent event, called allopathic medicine "stupid" science, criticised modern medicine as well as anti-COVID-19 vaccines for failing to check the deaths from the virus. Ramdev also held allopathy responsible for post-COVID-19 complications like 'black fungus'. He even mocked doctors during his regular Yoga sessions.

Federation of Resident Doctors Association India (FORDA) had on May 29 demanded an unconditional public apology or action against Ramdev for his alleged remarks.

The federation alleged that Ramdev has tried to derail the vaccination programme by instilling fear among the people and asked why so far no action has been taken against him.

The RML RDA president said through today's protest, the association wants to covey a message to the government that they will always oppose such comments which are not good for the society.

The Indian Medical Association has also severely criticised Ramdev's remarks and asked for filing a case against him.

Ramdev has been repeatedly claiming that his ayurvedic medicine Coronil can cure COVID-19 patients. However, no official organisation or body has so far approved his claim.
