Arvind Kejriwal to hold review meeting on Covid situation in Delhi

New Delhi/UNI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will meet Health Minister Satyendar Jain and others senior officials on Friday evening to review the COVID-19 situation in the National Capital.

Slated to be held at the Secretariat at 1600 hrs, the meeting will deliberate on the status of hospital beds, ICU, ventilators, beside other infrastructure, sources said.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was appointed as Nodal Minister for COVID management by the Delhi government this morning.

"He shall be responsible for inter-ministerial coordination till further orders," a government order signed by Mr Kejriwal read.

Meanwhile, in a bid to break of chain of transmission of the deadly virus, the Chief Minister imposed weekend curfew in the city yesterday. The curfew will begin at 2200 hrs tonight and end on Monday morning at 0500 hrs.

People providing essential services and those attending wedding services will be exempted from the restrictions and issued e-passes.

While gyms, malls and spas will be shut immediately, cinema halls can function with 30 per cent occupancy. There will be no dine-ins in the restaurants but take-aways will be allowed.

Delhi has emerged as the most affected city in the country by overtaking Mumbai in terms of daily Covid-19 tally. It logged 6,699 new cases and 112 deaths on Thursday, according to the health department's data.
