Nandigram/IBNS-UNI: Tension ran high today at Birulia bazar in Nandigram, the epicentre of West Bengal polls, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sustained wounds a day ago,  as the rival supporters of TMC and BJP assembled in hundreds blaming each other for Wednesday's incident.

The BJP supporters alleged that the chief minister was falsely claiming that 4/5 men pushed her car gate and injured her.

They alleged that the TMC supremo was misleading the people due to vested interest and demanded that the people of Birulia were not involved in the incident.

The TMC supporters in the gathering alleged that the BJP supporters were behind the attack on their leader and demanded the arrest of the people involved.

TMC MP Sukendu Sekhar Ray alleged that "at about 6.15 pm on Wednesday a few unknown persons pushed her to the car and forcibly shut the door when she was about the leave Birulia region after performing puja in a temple. As a result, her left leg was injured and she also felt severe pain in her waist."

Earlier, Trinamool Congress MP and Mamata's nephew Abhishek Banerjee warned the Bharatiya Janata Party to get ready to see the power of people of Bengal on Sunday (May 2), the day of counting of votes of the Assembly elections.

Abhishek Banerjee also tweeted an image of Mamata Banerjee admitted in hospital with her left leg in a cast. "@BJP4Bengal  Brace yourselves to see the power of people of BENGAL on Sunday, May 2nd," Abhishek Banerjee tweeted. "Get READY!!!" he said.

The Bengal Chief Minister claimed that she had sustained multiple injuries in legs, hands and forehead.

"When I was at a temple in Nandigram, four-five persons intentionally pushed me and manhandled me, it is clearly a conspiracy against me," Mamata Banerjee alleged through a clutch of media reports said that she was not manhandled and the injury was inflicted from an accident.

"When the incident happened, neither the SP nor any local policeman was present there," Banerjee, who gets Z-plus category security by the state, claimed.

The state's ruling party chief was brought to Kolkata on Wednesday night from Nandigram and admitted to the SSKM Hospital.

In a statement, the TMC said: "After widespread response from the people of Nandigram Block-1 yesterday, Ms Mamata Banerjee visited several places of Nandigram Block II after filing nomination at Haldia. She offered Puja in one after another temple. There was a massive response from people everywhere."

Meanwhile, reports said the BJP would complain to the Election Commission against Banerjee for "spreading lies about attack for politics".

According to media reports, a BJP delegation will meet Election Commission officials in Kolkata to lodge a complaint against Mamata's charges.

Earlier in the noon, Banerjee, who is contesting from Nandigram seat in the assembly election, filed her nomination at Haldia and visited a few temples as a part of her poll-campaign.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has sought a detailed report on the alleged attack on Mamata Banerjee as well as the alleged security breach.
