Guwahati/IBNS: Banned militant group United Liberation Front of Asom – Independent (ULFA-I) warned to execute two abducted employees of an oil drilling company after failing talks with the authorities of the oil firm.

In a press statement issued by the outfit stated that they would execute the two abducted employees of the oil drilling company in the coming week in a phased manner after failing the talks with the company authorities.

“The NSCN/GRPN and ULFA-I inform the people of Assam, the Assam and Arunachal Pradesh governments, the family members of the two abducted persons as well as the Quippo authorities that the talks with Quippo authorities from 16 to 19 February have failed. Therefore, we have decided to take action against the Quippo’s two employees, Ram Kumar and Pranab Kumar Gogoi, in the coming week in a phased manner as decided earlier,” said in the statement.

Following the statement of the banned outfit, the family members of the abducted persons and Assam government have appealed to ULAF-I to release the persons unharmed on humanitarian grounds.

Pranab Kumar Gogoi – a drilling superintendent at the Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited and a resident of Assam’s Sivasagar district, and Ram Kumar – a radio operator at the company and a resident of Bihar’s Khagaria district, were kidnapped by the armed militants of ULFA-I and NSCN from a drilling site near Innao in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on December 21 last year.

The family members of Pranab Kumar Gogoi appealed to ULFA-I and its chief Paresh Baruah to release Pranab Kumar Gogoi on humanitarian grounds.

"I appeal ULFA-I with folded hands to release my husband,” the wife of Pranab Kumar Gogoi said.

On the other hand, Assam Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma urged Paresh Baruah and ULFA-I with folded hands to release the abducted persons unharmed.

"We don’t want any bloodshed on the soil of Assam and India. If any unfortunate incident will happen, then the Assamese community will again not be able to stand in front India and the world and our pride will be fallen down in front of the world. The world will look upon the Assamese community as Talibani members,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
