Kolkata/IBNS: Trinamool Congress-turned-BJP leader, Firoz Kamal Gazi aka Babu Master, and his driver have suffered multiple splinter injuries as his vehicle was reportedly attacked and bombed by unidentified miscreants on Basanti Highway under Minakhan Police Station limits in North 24 Parganas district of poll bound West Bengal on Saturday night.

According to reports, at least 15 miscreants attacked Babu Master's SUV near Lauhati bridge, barely 200 metres away from Lauhati police outpost, when the leader was returning to Kolkata from Basirhat.

Those miscreants hurled few crude bombs and fired several rounds of bullets aiming at the vehicle, reports said.

Following the attack, the SUV's driver somehow drove the vehicle to Lauhati police outpost and police sent injured Babu Master and his driver to Kolkata.

BJP leaders said that Master and his driver were admitted to a private hospital beside EM Bypass in Kolkata.

State leaders of BJP alleged that TMC party deputed miscreants to kill Babu Master who joined the BJP from TMC in December last year.

Denying allegations against them, TMC North 24 Parganas district president and state minister Jyotiptiya Mallick claimed that none of his party was involved in the incident and the attack was an outcome of BJP's internal conflict.
