J&K Police organise Cycle race “Pedal for Peace”

Srinagar/IBNS: Continuing its efforts to promote sports talent among the youth, Jammu and Kashmir Police under its Civic Action Programme organized cycle race “Pedal for Peace” here this morning.

Lt. Governor J&K Manoj Sinha, who graced the presentation ceremony, presented cash prizes to the winners.

The race was divided into  different categories. Advisor to Lt. Governor K.K Sharma & Director General of Police Dilbag Singh flagged off Junior Boys/Girls, Senior Men/Women Cyclists categories from Lalit Ghat, Police Golf Course, Srinagar and Sub Junior and Veteran Categories were flagged off by Advisor to Governor Baseer Ahmad Khan & IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar from Nehru Park.

Lt Governor J&K, Manoj Sinha graced the presentation ceremony at Police Golf Course, Srinagar for Junior Boys/Girls, Senior Men/Women Cyclists categories.

While Advisor to Hon’ble Governor R.R Bhatnagar presided over the presentation ceremony at Botanical Garden for Sub Junior and veteran Categories.

DGP J&K Dilbag Singh in his welcome address thanked Hon’ble Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, Advisors to Hon’ble Governor K.K Sharma, R.R Bhatnagar and Baseer Ahmad Khan for gracing the event and encouraging the participants.

He extended his good wishes to the participants for participating in the event and added that their participation is spreading the message of fit India and fit Kashmir.

The DGP said that Hon’ble Lt. Governor has been showing a keen interest in promotional and sports activities for youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that under the leadership of Lt. Governor J&K, Police has framed a calendar of sports events and various tournaments and sports festivals are being organized in different parts of the valley and added that J&K police organized Police Premier Cricket League in Srinagar, a mega sports event in which 218 teams are participating in Bandipora, and T-20 Cricket tournaments are going on in Ganderbal and Handwara.

He informed that yet another Police Premier Cricket League will also commence in Budgam tomorrow. 

SSP Srinagar Dr. M. Haseeb Mughal in his vote of thanks a dress, thanked the chief guest and other guests for gracing the occasion and making the event a success.

SSP Srinagar also highlighted the role of J&K Police in promoting the budding talent and trying to provide a launching pad to the young and budding talent not only in cycling but in other Sports and Skills also.

SSP Srinagar thanked all the wings, officers and officials who were actively involved in making this event a success.

SSP Srinagar added that we are striving hard for complete restoration of Peace in the District and all the participants become our peace ambassadors.

Cycling clubs appreciated the efforts of Srinagar Police for promoting the game and encouraging the youth of the City to be part of the change.

The Award ceremony at Police Golf Course was attended by All Advisors to Hon'ble Lt Governor of UT of J&K, DGP J&K Police Dilbag Singh, ADs GP SJM Gillani, Abdul Ghani Mir, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang K. Pole, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, DIG CKR Amit Kumar,  Member Central Waqf Council Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, SSP Srinagar Dr. M. Haseeb Mughal, SSP Traffic City Javid Ahmad Koul, SP Headquarters Srinagar, All Zonal SsP and SDPOs of District Srinagar.

On the culmination of the race, prize distribution function was held in which the winners of all categories were awarded with cash prizes.

In the senior girls category, Rubab Ali, Insha, Zeenat Ashraf, Muskaan, Shafa Shafi and Meenal bagged first six positions respectively.

In senior boys category, Zamin, Waheed, Mujtaba, Akbar, Aadil and Parvaiz Ahmad bagged first six position respectively.

In junior girls category, Sara, Sara Michar, Warda, Salva, Aayat and Syed Irena emerged first six winners and in boys junior category Aadil Altaf, Monis, Shabir, Hashim, Jahangeer and Suhaib bagged the first six positions respectively.

In Sub Junior girls category, Syed Aden, Farah Ahad got first three positions respectively and in sub Junior boys category Zahid Bashir, Tahir Bashir and Hadi emerged finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectably.

In Veteran Category, Fahim Ali, Sheikh Tariq and Dr. S. Bashir finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. 

The event was witnessed by a large number of sports lovers, including men, women and children, who had thronged along the road on the banks of famous Dal Lake. 93.5 Red FM and GK Communication PVT. Ltd were the media partners of the event.
