Mixed reactions from Muslim community over Babri case verdict

Lucknow/UNI: Muslim community on Wednesday gave a mixed reaction to the acquittal of all the accused in the Babri Mosque demolition case by the special CBI court, with some welcoming it and some speaking against it.

Zafaryab Jilani, member of All India Muslim Law Board, questioned the court ruling, saying there was a 'big legal error' in letting off the accused. He added that the community will challenge the decision in the High Court.

Talking to media, Mr Jilani said, "This is erroneous judgement as it is against evidence and against law. We will challenge it in High Court."

He clarified that Board will not be party to it. It will be filed by Muslim residents of Ayodhya. However, Iqbal Ansari, the petitioner in the Babri title case, has welcomed the CBI court’s acquittal of 32 accused.

“It’s good that this is now over. Let’s all live in peace. Let there be no fresh trouble of this nature. Hindus and Muslims have always lived in peace in Ayodhya,” he told reporters in Ayodhya.
