Jammu: CBI nabs J&K Govt employee in bribe case

Jammu/UNI: Tightening noose against the "corrupt" government servants, the sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation Jammu on Tuesday, yet again nabbed a top officer of Public and Health Engineering Department for demanding and accepting the bribe.

Sources in the CBI here told UNI that acting on a complaint lodged by one contractor, Assistant Executive Engineer, PHE Division, Rajouri, Fateh Ali, was taken into custody for demanding and accepting the bribe.

"The complainant lodged a complaint that in 2016-17, when the tainted officer was posted in Samba, in Flood Control Department, he carried out some work but his bills were pending, and we're not being cleared by the officer" sources said.

They added that the officer was shifted to Rajouri, adding, "he was demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 to clear the outstanding bills of the complainant."

"Soon after the complaint was received, CBI team was keeping track on the accused," sources said and added that on Monday, the accused called the complainant to Jammu to pay the bribed money."
"The trap was laid and he was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe," sources said.

They added that a case under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was registered and investigation started.

Earlier also CBI Jammu raided government employees, politicians including Jammu Municipal Corporation, residence of former minister Choudhary Lal Singh, small scale industries in corruption allegations.
