New Delhi: Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will leave for Moscow on Wednesday to attend the combined meeting of Defence Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member States in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of victory in the World War II.

He will visit Russia from Sept 3 to 5.

He tweeted: "Heading to Moscow. During this visit, I shall be attending the combined meeting of Defence Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) & CIS members in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of victory in the World War II."

Singh said during his Russia visit he will meet country's Defence Minister General Shoigu to discuss bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual interest.

Singh tweeted: "I shall also be meeting Russia’s Defence Minister, General Shoigu to discuss bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual interest. India and Russia are privileged Strategic Partners. Looking forward to further this partnership during my visit."

Singh is visiting Russia amid heightening tension between India and China.

In a fresh attempt to change the status-quo at the Line of Actual Control, the Chinese troops have carried out provocative military movements at Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh to only get thwarted by India, the country's Defence Ministry said on Monday.

This is the first attempt by China to trespass at the LAC since the deadly border clash took place between soldiers of the two Asian giants at Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh on Jun 15 night.

In the first deadly clash in a time span of over 40 years, at least 20 Indian personnel were martyred.
