Teenager rape & murder 17-year-old girl raped and killed in UP's Lakhimpur Kheri, second such incident in 10 days
Lucknow/IBNS: A 17-year-old girl, whose mutilated body was found near a village in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri district on Tuesday, was raped, the police confirmed.
The police had initially stated that the girl appeared to have been murdered with a sharp weapon due to which she had sustained injuries to her neck.
The post mortem report later confirmed that she was raped before being killed.
He body was found near a dried-up pond, which is 200-km away from her village.
According to her victim's relatives, the girl had travelled to a neighbouring town to get a scholarship form on Monday. But when she did not return home, the family informed the police.
This is the second case of rape and murder of a teenage girl from this district in the past 10 days.
Earlier on Aug 15, a 13-year-old girl was raped and killed in the state's Lakhimpur Kheri district and her body found in a sugarcane field, that belonged to one of the accused.
The victim was raped and then strangulated.
