New Delhi/IBNS: As part of the phased easing of restrictions, the Central government is mulling reopening of cinema halls and gyms with several restrictions in Unlock.3, media reports said.

Schools and colleges will continue with online classes.

The government is considering the move following a request by an association of cinema halls to the Information and Broadcasting ministry that theatres be allowed with 25-30 percent capacity, an NDTV report said.

The Union Home Ministry.has received the request, the report said.

Gyms may also be allowed to open with many restrictions, the sources said, reported NDTV.

The Delhi government has asked the Centre to allow resumption of metro operations, said the report.

Cinema, gyms, schools across India have been closed since India went into lockdown late March to slow the spread of coronavirus.

Centre is moving cautiously as India is recording nearly 50,000 COVID-19 cases a day.

The country has 14.35 lakh total coronavirus cases so far with 32,771 deaths, and ranks just after the US and Brazil.
