Kolkata man allegedly flings neighbour's child to death from 4th floor during argument

Kolkata/IBNS: A 18-month-old child died and another six-year-old boy was seriously injured after they were allegedly being thrown out from the fourth floor of a residential building in Kolkata's Burrabazar area by a middle aged neighbour during an argument on Sunday evening, reports said.

According to reports, during an argument with one of his neighbours, the man, who has been identified as Shiv Kumar Gupta, allegedly three his neighbour's three children.

They were playing on the balcony on the fourth floor of the building which is located near Nandaram Market under Burrabazar Police Station limits.

Two children fell on the ground while another kid somehow survived after getting stuck in the balcony's railing.

The injured duo were immediately rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital where one of them, the 18-month-old toddler, was pronounced dead.

Reports said that the six-year-old boy was undergoing treatment at the hospital in a critical condition.

Kolkata Police officials said Shiv Kumar Gupta has been arrested.

An investigation into the incident has been initited.

"Besides local police, the Homicide section of our Detective Department are investigating the matter and visited the scene while the accused has already been arrested," a senior city police official said.
