Srinagar/IBNS: While the whole world is struggling to save human lives from the onslaught of Corona virus, Pakistan is pursuing its single minded objective of sending terrorists across the border by providing them with the fire cover, said Jammu Kashmir Workers Party president Mir Junaid.

“Their misadventure has caused death of 3 civilians including a child in Kupwara, which is very unfortunate and highly appreciable,” said Mir Junaid.

“Very heavy artillery is being used by Pakistani Army. Villages just 20 km from the town have been hit badly. Panzgam, which is 60 kms inside LOC has witnessed huge mortar shelling resulted in deaths, injuries and destroying of houses, shelters of the people,” added Mir Junaid.

Meanwhile Jammu Kashmir Workers Party in a statement issued said, “We believe that a human life cannot be valued in terms of currency and therefore while monetary compensations as offered by the governments of the yore, as a matter of routine, may help the concerned families to meet with their immediate requirements, but that is not the solution for a problem that is essentially human.”

The party urged Indian government to establish infrastructure which may prevent loss of lives.

It further reads, “While border clashes may continue to happen, the JKWP requests the GOI and the political leadership to initiate establishing such infrastructures in the conflict prone areas of the UT of J&K that eliminate the tragic events of loss of precious lives and minimize the disturbances caused to the people in their day to day life.”

Three civilians, including a woman and child, were killed on Sunday when Pakistani troops violated ceasefire by resorting to unprovoked heavy shelling and firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara.

A defence ministry spokesperson told UNI that Pakistani troops, violating the 2003 ceasefire, fired mortar shells at around 1700 hrs today, targeting forward posts and civilian areas.

He said three people, including a woman and baby, were killed when a mortar shell fired by Pakistani troops exploded in a civilian area in Kupwara.

The Indian troops also retaliated and the exchange of fire lasted for about an hour. However, sources said there was no report of any causality or damage to property from this side of LoC.
