Fake kidney racket busted in Karnataka, 6 arrested

Bengaluru/UNI: Six persons, including three Nigerian nationals, have been arrested for their involvement in a fake kidney racket, through which they duped over 300 people, police said on Sunday.

The case was cracked by a Special Investigating Team (SIT) headed by Banasawadi, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Raviprasad. These people had duped scores of people, by misusing the name of a well known hospital located in Bengaluru.

The accused include three people from the state of Tripura, who had opened a web portal, and offered to facilitate the sale and purchase of kidney's and charged huge amounts of money from their unsuspecting victims.

The Kammanahalli police, received a complaint from the director of a hospital, who told the police that some people were forging the name of a doctor and the hospital and running a racket. Acting on the complaint the police launched an investigation and arrested six people, including three Nigerian nationals, who were allegedly involved in the racket.

The accused, had also reportedly misused the names of few more hospitals and doctors in the city, the police sources added.
