Kolkata/IBNS: Police on Friday night arrested four persons for allegedly gang-raping a seventh standard student in west Kolkata's Mominpore area, reports said on Saturday.

According to reports, the 12-year-old girl lodged a complaint with Parnashree Police Station on Saturday morning and alleged that a known person took her to a flat at Bhukailash Road area under Ekbalpur PS limits on Thursday late evening and gang-raped her with three others.

"The victim girl, who is a resident of Parnashree area, came to Parnashree PS and complained that four persons gang-raped her on Thursday night at a flat at Ekbalpur area," a senior official of Kolkata Police told IBNS.

"A 'zero FIR' was immediately registered at Parnashree PS and police informed Ekbalpur and South Port police stations to trace and nab the accused," the official added.

Later on Friday night, four accused, Amarjit Chowpal, Manoj Sharma, Bikash Mullick and Rittick Ram, were arrested from different locations.

"They have been charged under multiple sections of IPC and POCSO Act and investigation officer (IO) of this case has been directed to file primary charge-sheet within next seven days," a city police officer said.

"After preliminary interrogation, we have come to know that the crime was pre-planned," the officer added.

However, the four accused persons, who are aged between 20 to 25 years, are likely to be produced before a local court at Alipore on Saturday.
