New Delhi/UNI/IBNS:  Condemning the Dec 15 incident in Jamia Millia Islamia University, Vice-Chancellor Najma Akhtar on Monday said Delhi Police entered the varsity campus without permission and the process of filing an FIR against them will begin on Tuesday.

The Vice-Chancellor said she has raised the matter with the government and sought legal course in the matter.

On the demand of the protesting students, the Vice-Chancellor in consultation with the Deans, HoDs and other officials announced that the ongoing semester exams stands cancelled till further notice. New schedule will be declared later.

The VC’s remark came after hundreds of Jamia Millia Islamia students protested outside Akhtar’s office, demanding an FIR against the police in connection with the violence that unleashed on campus last month.

"The university has already followed all possible steps for the registration of FIR. It has given its complaint to SHO Jamia Nagar and it's copy to CP Delhi and DCP South East. It has also written letters to Joint CP Southern Range and DCP Crime for the registration of FIR earlier," the VC said.
